CAUGHT IN UNDERTOW
A Press Association, message from Dunedin this week credited the St. Clair Club with effecting tho rescue of a young man and woman, who got into difficulties in the heavy surf and Undertow at St. Clair Beach (Dunedin) on Sunday afternoon last. Four members of the Lyall Bay Surf Club, however, were responsible for the rescue. They were C. Thomas, F. Eyan, J. Cameron, and J. Hill. A big surf was running at the time, and Mr. Thomas, who was walking along the beach, saw the girl struggling. He immediately went out to her, but when he got hold of the girl a man clung to his shoulder. Seeing the position, Ryan, Cameron, and Hill went to Thomas's assistance and took the man. Both man and girl, who were out beyond the actual bathing zone, were brought ashore exhausted, but soon recovered.
