THE WHITE MAN

SURVIVAL IN AFRICA

NEED FOR FRESH BLOOD

ME. AMERY'S ADVICE

(United Prssg Association.—Copyright) (Sydney Sun Cable.)

(Received 20th September, noon.)

CAPETOWN, 19th September.

The Dominions Secretary, Mr. Leopold Amery, and his party have arrived at Capetown in completion of their long South African trek. They are in excellent health and are deeply impressed with the progress made since the last visit.;-

Addressing the 1820 Settlers' Memorial Association, Mr. Amery stressed the need for the right type of immigration. "If white civilisation is to survive," he' said, "you must bring out a type able to undertake the work already in the sphere of the whites and trust to the steady development of the country with the increased demand for native labour and the consequential rise in' its scale of remuneration, thus enabling the white man's sphere of work gradually to extend. If South Africa reaches a stationary position with no fresh blood coming in, the country will soon cease to attract white population." -

Mr. Amery sails for Australia on Friday.
