WOMEN'S HEALTH

MOEE ATTENTION NEEDED

(From "The Post's" Representative.) SYDNEY, Sth September.

Of tho letters which appear in the open columns of tho Press in Sydney, none are more piquant or moro damning in their indictments than those from tho facile and forceful pen of Dr. A. Watson Munro. Dr. Munro's letters suggest, that if he had not entered the medical profession ho would have gracod journalism. Obstetric reform is his obsession. Ho gives another rovivifying touch to this important question in his latest letter, which ho prefaces witli tho question: "How much better is a human being than a shcop?" and which has been inspired, if tho worthy doctor needs any inspiration, by tho resolve of tho big associations of women in Sydney to try to get at tho causes of tho continued and increasing mortality in motherhood and oarly infancy. "Too long," says Dr. Watson Munro, "has tho woll-being of womanhood been the plaything of political opportunists; too long havo thoir health interests been allotted the rolo of tho little cinder girl in the nienngo of our university. The protection of women and childron is a man's job. But mon havo alternately slept on tho job or bungled it. It will bo a snd day for the women, who seem to havo so fow real champions, if over Dr. Watson Munro lays down his pen and quits a field in which his tireless labours havo not beon without some fruit.
