TILDEN IN WINNING FORM

ABILITY TO CLINCH MATCHES

(United Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 17th September, 2.30 p.m.) NEW TOEK, 16th September.

Tilden's ability to clinch the match at decisive points, which was outstanding in the past, seems not to have completely left him, althongh he now does it with more difficulty. Twice in' the third set during the match with, Hunter at Forest Hills he stood at advantage in decisive games with a single point only needed to give Mm a clear road to victory. The same occurred in the fourth set, and by a supreme effort he pulled through to win 14-12, 6-1, 4-6

Rene Lacoste (France) defeated W H. Johnston (U.S.A.), 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.
