AGAINST COMMUNISTS

MILLERAND'S ATTACK

(Published in "The Times.")

PABIS, 15th September. The former President, M. Millerand, who is contesting a Senatorial by-elec-tion at Orne, opened his c^unpaign by strongly attacking Cqmmunists. He

doscribed the Soviet Embassy at Paris as the headquarters of revolution, and demanded that the Government eject "XT. Eakovsky, and recall the Ambassador from Moscow. Only such a rupture could strike Communism, otherwise France

„ „ would be the dupe o± Moscow, which would be happy to escape the difficulty by replacing M. Eakovsky with another Communist. The Government, after the declaration that Communism was an enemy, must act determinedly. M. Millerand added that Locarno wa° vitiated, because, while Trance regarded the agreements as a means of consolidating new Europe, Germany believed that they enabled tho upsetting of Europe, but sho could not lay hands on Alsace-Loraine, the Danzig corridor, or Upper Silesia without setting tho world on fire. Prance must remain strong in order to remain respected.
