HATAITAI BANQUET.
The married men of the Hataitai Methodist Church provided a novel entertainment last week in connection with this season's effort for the new building fund. The proceedings took the form of a "Lord Mayor's Banquet," and were highly divert ing, good things for mind and body being provided for the 100 guests. During the repast, which was prepared and served entirely by men, musical selections were given, and then'followed the toast list, interspersed with other items. The following toasts were honoured:—"The King," "The Lord Mayor," proposed by Mr. W. F. Stock, reply Rev. E. S. Emmitt; "Parliament," proposed by Mr. J. Phillips, reply Mr. H. E. Moston; "The Ladies," proposed by Mr. L. J. Berry, reply Mr.. W. Musker; "The Greatest Club in the World," proposed by Mr. M. Cable, reply Mr. F. S. Tunnicliff. Considerable amusement was cp.used by the aldermanic proportions and extreme dignity of the "Lord Mayor." Enjoyable musical items were rendered by Messrs. Phipps, Daniels, Phillips, and the Waiata Quartette, and Mr. V. Evana delighted with some humorous sketches.
