DE LUXE THEATRE.
In the American war picture, "What Price Glory," to be shown to-night at the Do Luxe Theatre, photography is of an exceptionally high order, especially the battle scenes which are staged on an extensive scale, thousands of 'supers" being engaged to impersonate the troopers of all nations. A night attack on the German front lines by a battalion of American infantry is vivi'lly portrayed, the battered surface of "No Man's Land" being illuminated by the. flare of numerous explosions, lhe collapse of the sides of a deep trench burying tho fighting soldiers serves to make the audience realise the dangers and horrors of war. A wonderfully inspiring scene is a march-past of the Allied troops. The arrival of the Australian and South African volun-. tecrs in England is also depicted, the scenes being taken during the early stages of the Great War. The story deals with the exploits of four members of the American marines, who are drafted for service in France. Victor M'Laglen, tho noted British athlete, portrays Captain Flagg, the dominating commander of a company of marines. Dolores Del Kio has never appeared to greater advantage than as Charmaine, a gay French girl, who offers companionship to each and every soldier. Edmund Lowe portrays Sergeant Quirt, Flagg's rival, while Leslie Fenton as a shell-shocked offlcer, gives a remarkable performance Samuel Cohen and Ted M'Namara are responsible for much laughter as two care-free irresponsible troopers who get themselves into many hilarious situations.
