PADEREWSKI FAREWELL RECITAL.

Por the farewell M. Paderewnki recital to bo given at the Town Hall, Wellington, on Saturday, 25th June, a number o£ his favourite selections from the works' of Chopin, the great Polish composer, will be played. It has been said that Paderewslti is able to breathe into the ■ Chopin music the enthusiasm and passion of the author, and in all parts o£ the world his playing of this beautiful music has been acclaimed. That those present will be afforded a great musical 'treat is assured, "and there is Buro to be a large and enthusiastic audience, as apart from the merits of the concert itself this will be Paderowski's final appearance on the Wellington stage, and probably the last occasion on which tho people of this province will have the opportunity of seeing and heaaring this noted personality. In statesmanship, in patriotism, and in self-sacrifice the life of Paderewski stands , out as testimony, unique and convincing, to his great worth, and for hia post-war activities many countries have done him honour. It is characteristic of the man that he likes to do good by stealth, and dislikes anything in the shape of undue publicity. It was really in this spirit that he first intimated his intention of devoting his proceeds of the farewell recital on Saturday, 25th June, for the immediate relief of necessitous caseß of New Zealand soldiers who served in the Great War. This means a considerable sacrifice on hig part, but as he cays, "those splendid men deserve it." Box plans for preferential seats (23b) are now open at The Bristol. The same splendid arrangements for dealing with country applications for seats will bo observed, und intending patrons are notified that early applicationa are necessary.
