PAVING AGAINST TIME
The Engineer's Department of the City. Corporation is anxious to make a real job of Salamanca road before wintor puts an end to paving operations, but is finding itself hard piit to it to get ahead against the traffic difficulties. Salamanca road, though widened by the building out of the footpath and the carrying of the traffic surface out over the old footpath, is still only just wide enough to allow paving operations to be carried on one-half of the width and for traffic to squeeze past on tho other. As this road is a most important thoroughfare to Kclburn people its complete closing would bring about a good deal of inconvenience but there is sound sense in a request from the department that those who can avoid Salamanca road should make the extra runs entailed while paving" is in hand. Those who must take tho road are requested to drive with due thought to tho safety of the men at work. If these was any guarantee that the weathere was any guarantee that the weawas completed traffic interruptions would not be so serious a matter, even though they are continual, but that guarantee is lacking.
