CHRISTCHUECH, 2nd J uue The annual conference of the New Zealand League of Nations Union yesterday elected the following officers:— Patron, Sir James Allen; president, Dr A. G. B. Fisher; vice-presidents, the Right Hon. JV G. Coates, the Hon. W D. Stewart, Messrs. H. Holland, MP' Frank Milner, E. C. Cutten, H. Valder' the Hon. F. J. Rolleston, Mrs. K. m' Evans, Revs. J. Gibb, J. Aitken, and j. K. Archer, and Archdeacon Chatterton; executive, Messrs. Ernest Rosevear, A. Farquaharson, A. C. Cameron, H. K. Wilkinson, F. Jones, Mrs. Hanan' and Mrs. Benson. A remit moved by Mr. Airey (Christchurch) and seconded by Dr. Gibb (Wellington) was carried: "That conference stresses the need for earnest public consideration of the question as to whether the Singapore Base is consistent with the efforts to establish security by international goodwill and understanding." A remit was also carried to the effect that if Britain- were unable to amicably settle her differences with China she should call upon the assistance of the League of Nations or some other impartial tribunal.
