ATTITUDE OF LABOUR

The sixth day of the Flag Bill debate in the Union Parliament was marked by a considerable uproar owing to the strong speech of a Labour member, who, professing to speak for the EnglishSpeaking South Africans, declared that Opposition members were ready to talk, but not to fignt for the Union Jack.
When accused by an Opposition member of being an Irish Sinn Feiner, one Labour member declared: "I will oppose the Bill." The rest of the Labour members are pledged to vote for the second reading.
