SCOUT NOTES

With so much wet weather lately all fcscouts are hopeful that Friday morning will prove fine and sunny for 10 a.m. at the Jiasm Reserve. Keep Bmiling and whistling all ye Scouts and Cubs. 'ihe co-operation of all. Scoutmasters, committee members, and friends is requested to make the rally on the King's Jiirthday a great success. Troops will assemble uot later than 5.15 a.m. in Tasniau street, opposite Boys' Institute, undir Scoutmasters. District Scoutmasters will be in charge of districts. The order of assembling will be according to the programme, with the addition of St. James's JLroop to the Wellington South list. . Wolf tub packs will assemble in Rugby street (south side of the Basin Reserve) not later than 9.15 a.m. The Commissioner wishes it to be distinctly known that all troops and packs, irrespective of their taking part in the special displays, should be present at the rally. In the evont of wet weather the Drill Hall,- Buckle street, has been kindly placed at our disposal in the morning at the same hour fixed for the rally. Kindly make this'known to' all who have purchased tickets and others interested. 'Iroops from Petone and Hutt districts will bo accommodated in special carriages attached to the train which leaves Melling at 8.28 a.m. Troops from Johnsonvillc, Khandallah, and Ngaio will catch.the train which leaves Johnsonville at &22 a.m. Special trams will' connect on arrival of the trains at Lambton and Thorndon stations for conveyance to Basin Reserve. Fares are to be paid by Scouts both on '"trains and trams, at the special concession rates for Scouts travelling in uniform. As already requested troops are asked to provide one committee member to report to Mr. Hitchins (lion, secretary) at the north gate not later than 9 a.m. Admission 'to ground Is, and to the stand fld extra, lickets may be handed in to Mr. Hitchins only on the moiaing of tho.rally, between the hours of 9 and 10 a.m. The closing date for handing' in cash tickets for the No. 1 Ticket Selling Competition will be I'riday night, 10th June, by 9 p.m. As a matter of fact, all cash and tickets not sold should be returned at the earliest possible opportunity after the rally, so that the statement may be prepared. Good wishes to the troop committees and Scouts of the new troops and Wolf Cub packs last week formed at Newtown and at Trouthain. Mr. Gaunt, for Newtown, and Mr. Mourant, for Trentham, have been nominated as Scoutmasters by the respective committees,, lion, secretaries to be appointed. later. A small detachment of Sea Scouts will accompany the Commissioner and Sea Alaster Perry on 7th June, to assist in forming a Sea Scout Troop at Plimmcrton. Despite a very wet night last Friday, at Trentham, parents and supporters, with Mr. M'Curdy iv the chair, decided to form a Scout troop with Wolf Cub pack. A further meeting is to be hold at Trentham on 10th June when some 30 boys are expected to attend for enrolment. The Commissioner D.S.M. Nelson, D.C.M. Bugg, and Messrs. Reid and Halford, Pctonc Troop Committee, assisted at the meeting. The Berhampore Baptist Troop start their second year with a reconstructed committee. Mr. Hooper to bo chairman. Last Thursday the Commissioner met the parents when, after generally explaining duties and methods it was decided to add a Wolf Cub pack to troop and to give more visiting support to Scout Master Glensore as well as find an assistant master. All Cubmasters are urged to come to the Den at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday next, 2nd June, to meet Miss Wilson, Akela Leader for New Zealand, who will present to the Cubmasters who have qualified for the Akela Badge, the "Parchment" and the Acarf Woggle and Beads which go with it. The District Commissioner hopes that every Cubmaster will be able to turn up to a most inspiring, successful and enjoyable time with Miss Wilson. Last Thursday's study was most interesting, roll up and make the most of this chance. Scoutmasters who are interested are invited to come and join in. During May the annual meeting of par- , cnts and friends of Trinity Troop was held at the troop headquarters. Reports on tho past year were given by the treasurer, secretary of troop committee, and the Scoutmaster, satisfaction was expressed at the result of the year's work. Representatives to the committee were chosen for the coming year. -The Ist Wellington City Rovers held a most enjoyable evening last Saturday. There was a good muster of friends and rovers. The evening was in the form of a social, games and competitions were played. Supper was served by the Rovers, after which all joined hands and sang "Auld Lang Syne." Lyall Bay Troop met as usual on Tuesday evening, a splendid muster in attend-j ance. The work was mostly confined to, badge work. On Tuesday, 7th June, at V.30, the annual meeting will bo held. Parents and others interested iv the troop are invited to attend and see what the boys of the district Are doing. All are eligible to become members of the troop, so roll along. ■ ■ Karovi Scouts met last Friday, -when 20 boys rolled' up in spite of the pouring rain. This speaks well for the boys. The following badges were presented: 7 tenderfoot (brass), 2 clost, 12 second class, 21 service stars, and 3 gardener's badge. Patrol Leader Whitney and Watchman received their Patrol Leader's Badge, Seconds Campbell, Clarke, Wilson received their Seconds. All are looking forward to the rally on Friday, and in the evening the troop is having a pound night to celebrate, its first year. I hope that all Scouts will have made themselves spick and span for the rally on Friday. Don't forget clean boots, stockings pulled tidily, and your hats dented the correct way.
