Sir, —In view of the recent controversies between our party (N.Z.C.P.) and the Labour Party, I enclose a copy of a letter sent by us to Mr. B. Semple (president N.Z.L.P.), Mr. W. Nash (secretary N.Z.L.P.), and Mr. J. Thorn (secretary Wellington L.R.C.). The letter is a challenge by us to them to debate publicly the contentious matters raised, and should be of interest to your readers.—l am, etc., 8. HARRISON. The letter sent to Mr. W. Nash (secretary New Zealand Labour Party) is as follows: —"In view of the prominence given to the relation cf the Labour Party to the Communist Party in the recent municipal election, and the publicity the matter is obtaining at the present time, I am directed to challenge you to publicly debate the issues raised.

"Tho debate to cover, the correctness or otherwise of the attitude of the Communist Party in general, and in the recent municipal elections in particular. The formal drafting of a -motion on the above lines and arranging for one or more speakers from each side can be mutually arranged once you intimate acceptance of pur challenge.'' ■ -'—-— —1_! 1^
