SOUTH ISLAND DAIRY ACTIVITY.
A successful year is reported by .the South Island Dairy Association, business done with factories amounting, to 90 per cent, of their supplies, including installation of machinery. The association reports reduced wharfage dues secured from the Otago Harbour Board, and is negotiating with Bluff Harbour Board for lower charges. It also refers to the lower shipping freight.rates up to 1929-30, when 12% per cent, com.es off current rates on butter and cheese. The reductions represent a saying of £360,000 to the industry, based tra quantities shipped during 1925-20. Export* of butter and cheese from South Island ports last year were 177,325 boxes butter, 1201,992 crates cheese;, increases on last'season being 41,152 boxes and 20,036 crates respectively.
