STOLEN FURS
CHARGE OF RECEIVING
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Following upon the, robb'ry at the Arctic Fur Company's Newton factory of £600 worth of goods stolen by Frank' Bailer and Jack Johnston, who have already been committed for sentence, a young man named Archibald Maclean was charger) at the Magistrate's Court to-day with receiving and converting to his own use 24 fur coats, J2 chokers, 2 Kolinski capes, and 12 fox skins, and also with having wilfully attempted to defeat the course of justice.- ■ . Maclean, in his statement, said that ho was a wharf labourer. He first met Bailer on 9th May in town. Bailer gave him a luggage ticket on the railway station, stating it was for a bag of furs. If he could drop them he could make a few pounds. He collected the bag of furs a few days later, took it home, and placed it in the washhouse. Bailer did not tell him where he got the furs from, but he knew that the furs had been stolen. The accused, who pleaded not guilty, was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail was allowed in one surety of £100. • . .__ ■
