HOOVER MAKES APPEAL
BANGER OF PESTILENCE

Mr. Hebert Hoover, the President \, T?ood Relief Commissiorer in a plea to the nation for an additional two million dollars, declared that the culmination of tho floods will see upwards of 700,000 destitute, the majority of which are now dependent on Bed Cross and other relief organisations. „, . . The vast work of reconstruction is now beginning with the flood's crest in sight in the Gulf of Mexico region. The relief committees apporated include a negro group selected to minister to the wants of stricken negroes. It is emphasised that victims are in the greate,3t danger of pestilence wheh once started, would sweep south.
