The slump, in prices -has beett attributed to a number of causes, such as: - (1) The large accumulation of stocks carried tonrard from the previous season anf held in store' in London,on account •< factories speculating for a rise in tU market; (2) the general strike and pr» longed coal strike in the United Kingdom with their consequent effects on the pa* chasing power of the people; (3) the gas eral economic position of that country! (4) the increase in the, importation .;• of dairy produce from' this and other eountrieß|_and (5V the HostiUty displayed by the trade in England towards the policy of the Control Board, especially with regard . to 'price-fixing.' We believe that the four reasons first named nave been strong contributory factor* in the decline, but are of the opinion that the policy «l - the Control Board has not affected th* position to any appreciable extent, v . produce from other countries not under > control have depreciated in value to the same degree, including Danish butter.
