"THE VOLGA BOATMAN."
"The Volga Boatman," the great spectacular human drama from the De Alille Studios, has been chosen for the premier production of the Paramount Theatre which reopens oh 20th' May. William Boyd and Elinor Fair are in the two main roles. Ihis is the finest picture De Mille has ever produced, not so flamboyantly colourful, and picturesque as some of his others, but for the power, for the fearless revelation of Revolutionary Russia for rippling comedy and tragedy blended into a composite whole', it stands as one of the greatest achievements of any producer or any studio. It is a drama, not only a story, of serfs and Royalists at the beginning of the revolution, boldly showing all the brutal passions which swept Russia, staging its tale on the banks of the Volga, holding the audience spellbound from the moment it opens in riotous and careless splendour until it ends in triumphant, sombre humanness, running the gamut of human emotions throughout. In the title' role William Boyd, play 3 his part with typical Slav mercurial temperament and scores a distinct personal triumph.
