OBITUARY
Mr. Victor Maurice Braund died on Sunday after a long illness. Tho late Mr. Braund, who for many years was a well-known accountant in Wellington, was born in France, but was descended from a Devonshire, family. In 1887 ho joined the staff of tho Union Bank of Australia in London, and three years later, was transferred to the Melbourne branch. In 1892 he was transferred to Wellington, was subsequently promoted to a responsible position on the inspector's staff, and finally became inspecting and auditing officer. In 1894, Mr. Braund left the service of tho bank, and established himself as an auditor, accountant, and sharebroker. Some years ago his health failed, and he had to discontinue active business. Mr. Braund was in his 70th year at the time of his death.
Mr. Charles Edward Eccies, a member of tho clerical staff of the Department of Health, died yesterday in his 47th year. The late Mr. Eceles, who was a son of the late Canon Eccies, of Woodville, served both in th,e South African War and in the Groat War, being a member of the Main Body. The funeral, which took place this after-' noon, was attended by Dr. T. H. A. Valintine (Director-General of Health) Dr. M...H. Watt (Deputy Director-Gen-eral), and a large number of members of the staff of the Department. The first part of the burial service was held at St. Michael and All Angel's Church Kelburn. The interment took place at Karori Cemetery.
