ZIMBALIST.
j.o-morrow morning at The Bristol Piano Company, box plans will be opened for the three recitals to be given by the famous violinist, Efrem Zimbalist, in the Town Hall, on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday of next week. Of the great masters of the violin now before the public, Zimablist is the only one who has not been heard in Australia and New Zealand. Kubelik, Elman, Heifetz, and Kreisler have in turn enthralled our minds and hearts with the incomparable music of the "king of instruments." It is with expectancy that music-lovers await the coming of Zimbalist, wliom European entice accord a; high place in the modern violinistic world. Violinists are not to be ranked in numerical order, like tennis players. Zimbalist will not play the Mozart Concerto-in the same way as Kreisler, and there is no reason why he should. He gives his own interpretation, not another's. Which player is to be preferred is almost entirely a matter of personal predilection, and taste, very often a capricious taste at that. At the celebrated Aver concert last year'in New York, Elinan-played duets with Zimbalist; and Zimbalist played pianoforte accompaniment for Heifetz. All three played solos, and it would be impossible to say that one scored a greater success than another. The Australian and New Zealand tour is under the direction of Concert Tours, Ltd. . ' '.
