*•— WELLINGTON CLUB The Wellington Harriers held a verysuccessful gathering on Saturday afternoon, when they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mulcahy at Kelburn. There was a large attendance of members and lady supporters. Owing to the large number of runners out (27) it was decided to run two packs, the slow pack setting off twenty minutes before the fast. A trail of about six miles laid by J. Swan and E. Gray started from Upland road and led over the viaduct to Northland road, which was followed to the Wireless Station, then along the hill for' about half a mile, and down the; slope to Wilton road, which was followed for about a mile. The trail then went up another hill leading to the back of the cemetery.' At this point several of the fast pack Caught up, and as the trail layers had run out of paper the pack turned back to Wilton road, where they were joined by the remainder of the fast pack. The two packs then made for Northland road via the new tunnel, from which the. run-in was held. To assist the handicapper all the new members started in a scratch run-in, which was won by T. Shroud with AV W. Burns second, and H. Wickham third., In the handicap run*in for the old members, R. Spence won from W. J. Clark by two yards, with H. Ellis three yards away third. Members were entertained at afternoon tea, which was enjoyed by all. The club captain, W Whelan, , on behalf of the club, thanked Mr. and Mrs. Mulcahy for their hospitallty and the runners sang “For They are Jolly Good Fellows and gave three hearty cheers for their host and hostess, lhe maiden handicap race next week starts from 69,. Taulunu road, Miramar, at 2.30 sharp, and the club uniform must be worn.
