TECHNICAL COLLEGE STUDENTS.
The annual general meeting of the TeehnicarCollego Students' Association was held*recently at,the now college, Mount Cook, Mr. J. H. Howell being in the chair. The attendance was disappointing, but nevertheless a considerable amount of business was put through. • . Annual reports and balance-sheets from affiliated Rugby, basketball, cricket, and Association, football clubs were read and adopted. They showed that the tennis and basketball clubs were the most satisfactory, membership of both being full, and' the support very good. The football and cricket clubs were not a great financial success, but with strengthened support during the coming season, an improvement was hoped for all round. The election of officers for the ensuing year then took place. Mr. J. H. Howell, the retiring president, declined to stand for office again, with the result that Mr. H. A. Hutchiuson was ■ elected unopposed. The officers were elected.as follow:—Vice-presidents, Miss G. Campbell, Mr. E. Evans, and Mrs. Hartley; hon. secretary, Mr<H. L. Bennett; hon. treasurer, Miss A. L. Wclsby; lion, auditor, Mr. James; association mem-, bers, Miss E. Laycock and Mr. Reg Johnston; hon. reporter, Miss P. Hulbert. . A discussion then took place regarding the policy of tie association and programme for the coming season, with the result that a committee of three was set up to inquire into and revise the existing constitution. This committee will also consider the proposal to form a debating club in connection with the association, and the report regarding tho coining season's programme will be presented at the next meeting. ■ It was pointed out that all past students of the college and past and pre, sent jhembers of tho evening school are eligible for membership to the association, or to any of the 'afiiliated clubs, and. it is anticipated that many students .who left the college last year will become members during the coming sc'iison.
