Owing to the unbroken weather, it is improbable that the Franktori -Falls dam ! will bo closed for mining operations on. the Kawarau River until lato'in May or early in June. Tho hard frosts have not yet, set in, and the closing; of the gates at the present season of mixed warm and cold days would noT ensure the required low levols of Lake AVakatipu and the tributaries of the Kawaraiu .
