DUKE AT GREYMOUTH

A HEARTY WELCOME

GREYMOUTH, 11th March. :■:, On arrival of the Duke of York at - Qjeymouth to-day after passing through • -Beefton, Hokitika, and Brunner this afternoon there was a large turn-out of people, and the Duke was heartily cheered. ; The address of welcome was enclosed ■';. in a handsome oblong case of polished ' toottled silver pine, the inside of the ,' i|d being a beautiful piece of New Zea=tand honeysuckle. Various men and .Cabmen were presented to the Duke, ,wiio gave them all a friendly greeting. The Duke is staying at the house of Mr. T. E. Y. Seddon, M.P., who travelfed with the Duke on the way from Jlokitika to Gxeymouth. There was a heavy Bhower of rain flaring the proceedings at Hokitika, :s»t it was not allowed to interfere with , «w ceremonies. :. Among those who said good-bye to Jfce Duke at Westport was Mr. H. E. MJ>. % To'iaorrow ' morning the Duke will .'witness a parade of Girl Guides and ;"Boy Scouts in the Park and a ehild- > Ten's gathering. He will entrain for SChristchurch at 11 o'clock. It will be ..'an easy day, for which everyone on the ;..tonr will be thankful, for since landing "..'at Picton on Wednesday it has been very strenuous. •» The Duke to-night paid a visit to the .'oifizens' ball at the Town Hall, where a crowded gathering accorded him a very enthusiastic welcome.
