TRIBUTES TO LOYAL SERVICE

.RUGBY, llth March. Prior to his departure from Pekin for London yesterday, Sir Francis Aglen, retiring Inspector-General of Chinese Maritime Customs, hud experienced a fortnight of banquets and receptions during which all sections of the foreign community had shown their appreciation of his loyal services to China and to the foreign interests in the Customs. The culminating event \vi:s ;> luncheon arranged by the Netherlands Minister, who is senior Minister in Pekin, the Japanese and British
Ministers and the chairman of the Anglo-American Association and all leading members of the Pekin foreign communities attending. The gathering was a unique demonstration of the esteem by which Sir Frances Aglen was held by all nations during his forty years in the Chinese Government Service and seventeen years as head of the Customs.
