LOOKING UP

EXPORTATION OF EGGS

(By Telegraph.)

(Sp«eial to "The Evening Post,")

.DUNEDIN, This Day. The poultry industry is experiencing a successful year! The average production per bird is about the same as last year, and the farmers have received good prices for their eggs this season. The average market price has been Is 7d per dozen, and this is about the same as last year. Eecord exportation of egg I S^ r ™maae ear]y in tQe season, and 33,000 dozen were shipped to England.

The reports received from London say that the eggs arrived in splendid order and found a ready sale. . The eggs were sold forward in Dunedin at Is 6a per dozen f.0.b., which was the same price at which they were being sold ±or local consumption. This was good selling on the part of the egg circles, as, if exportation had been withheld, the Dunedin and Dominion markets would have been over-supplied and the price would have fallen further. Eggs were selling at a low price in England, and the price realised in Dunedin was much more than that obtained by the exporters who sold on the London market.

It 1 is probable that even more eggs will be exported from-the province in the coming season.
