HAWKE CUP CHALLENGE

HAWERA, This Day. The Hawko Cup /batch between Taranaki (holders) and Wairarapa was commenced here this morning in ideal weather and on a fairly good wicket. Wairarapa won the toss, and Gee and Burt opened to the bowling of Clarke and Cole. The innings opened disastrously, and at one time six wickets "were down for 11 runs.
