THE ROADLESS NORTH
DARWIN DISSATISFIED
(United Press Association.—Copyright.) {Received 21st January, 10 a.m.)
DARWIN, This Day. The Town Council has asked tho JNorth Australia Commission to cancel the coastal shipping contract and withdraw the subsidy paid the company, which, they say, should bo spent on making roads. It ia pointed out that settlers and miners along the coast are being starved out; that produce is going to waste; that they are despairing, waiting the arrival of a ship with supplies. Pastoralists had' procured motor-lorries and cut roads through the rough country at their own expense. The council asked the Commission to finish these roads, thus making settlers independent of shipping. ■- ■
