Anxious eyes are on the weather, in view of the many holiday attractions offering in the We/ Jington district. II it is fine, there wi# .1 be plenty to do, as no form of sport • or diversion seems to be lacking for th .c Christmas holidays,
A beach gala, commences at Lyall Bay on Boxing J Jay, and will continue for a fortnight, Special evening lighting features, si/Je-shows, and sports of all kinds are provided, and there is a baby show, » nd a spectacular pageant of the rising of Neptune from the sea, also the noveli y of a men's beauty contest.
There is ai l athletic carnival at Petone, comma ncing on Monday at 10 a.m., with sports and side-shows. A feature of the < ;arnival will be the beautiful lighting effects at night.
Follower* of the "Sport of Kings'' will find special trains to the Manawatu, Clal eville, and Waipukurau on Boxing Dj ,y, while further afield is the meeting m f the Auckland Racing Club.
Tennis will engage the attention of many, bcr th at the tournament at Miramar and at all other courts. Special arrange! nents have been made for transport to the Miramar courts to-morrow morning, when the tournament begins. Marry; tennis enthusiasts will no doubt journo/y to Eastbourne, where the courts arc sure to be well filled:

T7fle ocean race has been called off thij j year, but most of the yachts and laa .nches are already away to the So unds. Something like eighteen craft W ill leave during the Christmas holid ays, and more at New Year.
Cricket enthusiasts will see some fgood play at the Plunket Shield match at the Basin Eeservc, between Otago and Wellington, commencing at 2 p.m. on Boxing Day, and continuing until I finished.
No doubt most motorists will attend the motor camp at Karori Park, whence many tours will be made. Most links will be occupied by golfers during the holidays, while at Miramar there will be a repetition of tine successful New Year's tournament held last year, where tho group system will allow of players of long handicap securing close games with those of their own quality. The Marlborough. Sounds will draw nicny families and parties on the Union Steamship Company's trips. The Tamahine will make a week-end trip to the Sounds, and the Wahine will make Boxing Day and New Year's Day trips to Picton.
Special railway arrangements arc advertised which enable convenient trips to the many pleasant beaches on tho northern lines, and cheap holidays to other resorts.
Th« Otaki. motor sports on Boxing Day will draw a crowd.
