The "Petit Parisien" says that tbe German Ambassador dfliiiially informed M. BerthcJot that the unfortunate impression whieli the Germergheim verdict has treated in Sermany is likely adversely to affect the Franco-German rapprochement. The Petit Parisien,'' commenting 0". the German Press protests, says, that they arc not nearly so concerned with the defence of the sentenced men as "with a speedy evacuation of the llh'meland.
The "Journal" recalls the scandalous manner in which Germany treated the Allied demands for the punishment of offenders against the common ]aW.
. The "Ere Nouvelle" says that tho offenders should be released.
The Gaulois" asks: "Is Locarno to be jeopardised for the sake of a mere legal affair?''
The "Quotidien" says that the French Government will treat the 'sentenced men -with clemency.
