NARROW ESCAPES IN CHftKT

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.
Two women and two men in a motor* car last night had a miraculous escape from serious injury, i perhaps from death. A New Brighton tramcar that left Cathedral. square at 10.6 o 'clock, when going along Cashel street between. Bollestoa street and Ollivieris road, collided with the motor-ear and damaged it badly. One wheel was torn off, and the windscreen and parts of the body were smashed. The occupants of the car were Mrs. Iva Shaw, of 186, Salisbury street, Mrs. A. Baker, of 3, Simeon street, Spreydonj the driver, Mr. P. Hazeldean, and another man. Mrs. Shaw was the only one injured, and she is suffering from a lacerated ear and shock. The car is owned by Mr. G. Dickinson, a garage proprietor.
Another car from Dickinson 'a garage was involved in a collision with a Fendalton tram in Victoria street. A taxi, driven by W. Lahore, was conveying Mr. James Corbett, solicitor, to the railway stationr The passenger and the driver had a very lucky escape. The taxi was coming out of Dorset street, when it was struck in the rear with a terrific impact by the tramcar. The car was swung over to the opposite side of the road. The back wheel of the motor-car was wrecked, and extensive damage was done to the mudguards and body.
