FITZSIMMONS KNOCKS OUT LEWIS,

At the.Boxing Association's tournament last night, before a record crowd, Fitzsimmons (Wellington) knocked out "Lofty" Lewis, of Wairoa, who recently won the amateur heavyweight championship, in the third round of a scheduled ton-round bout. Several splendidly contested amateur bouts were also staged.
Wanganui boxing patrons were treated to the best fight of the year when Trowern. and Purdy met at catch weights'for a purse of £150, states the "Wanganui Chronicle." The association could not have signed up a better match, as the crowd received 15 thrilling rounds for their money. The Opera House could have held more people than actually attended. Purdy entered the ring sealing 9st 101b to Trowern Js Ost 111b. Both boys looked very fit, but Trowern took the eye gensrally. The mill went the whole distance, and the decision in favour of Trowern met with general approval. Trowem waa the aggressor all the way.
