BANKRUPT DOCTOR
LITIGATION AND WORRY
BRING ABOUT BREAKDOWN.

AUCKLAND, This Day. A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Dr. David Douglas Wallace Martin, a medical practitioner of Ngarumvahia, was held at Hamilton.
Tho bankrupt's schedule showed liabilities at £7830, of which £.4929 wore secured. The property und chattels were valued at £4447, book debts wert given at £1100, leaving a deficiency of £8282. Bankrupt attributed his failure to worry and subsequent costly litigation arising from a motor-car accident, in which he had the misfortune- to kill a woman. As a result ho had suffered in hoalth, and had had a nervous breakdown. Ho was eventually obliged to engage the assistance of Dr. E. C. Brcwis, who had since carried ou practically all the work, Tho strain of meeting past obligations, in' addition to current expenses, and tho difficulty of collecting book dobts had terminated in his filing a petition. Ho had been pressed by a creditor, and had had a judgment summons issued against him. Bankrupt was confident of being ready to carry on his practice by next May, and hoped to pay his creditors if given time.
Tlic mooting was adjourned for a fortnight.
