In the Criminal Court, Percy William Davidson was found guilty of obtaining £90 from Lionel Percy-Ford, of Hikurangi, New Zealand, with intent to defraud. The prosecution alleged that Davidson contracted to sell a thoroughbred threo-year-old trotting filly, sired by the fastest pacer ever imported into Australia, to Ford for £80. The latter cabled tho monoy and received in rotarn for it a twenty-one-year-old milk cart horse, valued at 50s. D /idson stated from the dock that he advertised the filly for sale. He knew where he could buy her, but when he made the bargain with Ford he was unable to obtain her, and purchased tho other horse in the sale ring. The horse showed great speed when tried, and he shipped- it to New' Zealand. Davidson then wrote to Ford stating he would refund the money if Ford was not satisfied. Davidson was remanded for sentence. He admitted a co.-.viction for forgery in New Zealand.
