CHRISTCHURCH WOOL, SALE,

The first vrocl sale of the Christchurch season was held to-day with a full bench of buyers, representing Bradford, American, and Continental houses ,also local mills and scourers. There was a good selection of fine quality wools, fairly heavy in condition but sound and well-grown. A fair proportion was carrying dust owing to the dry winter. Bidding was keen and generally well sustained by Bradford, Concan, and Continental houses, also local mills being in the market for special lines. The following is the range of prices:—. Merino: Super, 19d to 20d; average, 16y 2 d to 18yad; inferior, 13d to 15d. Corriedales: Extra super, 21% d; super, 18d to'2od; average, lOd to IVAd; inferior, 13d to 15d. . . . . Tine halfbred: Extra super, 19% dto 20% d; super, IVAd to 19d; average, 15% d to 17d; inferior, lOd to 15d. Medium halfbred: Extra super, 18d to 19% d; super, 16% dto 17% d; average, 14d to 16d; inferior, 12d to 13% d. Coarse halfbred: Super, 14d to 14% d; average, 12% dto 13% d; inferior, lid to 12d. Fine crossbred: Super, 13d to 13% d; average, ll%d to 12%dt; inferior, lOd to lid. . Medium crossbred: Super, 12d to 1294 d; average, 109 id to lid; inferior, 9d to lOd. Coarse crossbred: Super, lid to ll%d; average, lOd to 10% d; inferior, BV4d to 9 1/ ad. Bellies and pieces: Merino, good to super, 13% dto 15Hd; merino, low to medium, lOV&d to 12% d; bellies, halfbred, good to super, 12d to 13% d; halfbred, low to medium, 10% dto IVAd. Pieces: Halfbred, good to super, 14d to 17d; halfbred, low to medium, 9%d to 13d. Bellies and pieces: Crossbred, good to super, 10% d to 13% d; crossbred, low to medium, 8d to lOd. Crutchings: Medium to good, 7%d to lid; inferior and seedy, s&d to 6V4d. •Locks: Halfbred, 6%d to 8d; crossbred, 5d to 6d. ■ .
