CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

There were two motor smashes during the week-end, both on the Papanui road. The first occurred when a motorcycle struck a car. The cycle was thrown against a tramway pole, and the rider received internal injuries and injuries to the hand. He was taken to the hospital. Later a car entering Papanui road from a side street came into collision with a motor-cycle. The cycle was -badly crumpled, but nobody was hurt. In tho effort to avoid a collision, the ear mounted the pavement and smashed one wheel and damaged the tire of another.
