MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) RAETIHI, 3rd July. Aa accident occurred in the Public Works Department's camp, Parapara road, this morning. John Louden, all olderly man, was apparently warming gelignite by the camp fire, and an explosion took place, igniting a. quantity of explosives stored nearby. Louden was thrown somo thirty feet in tho air and is now in the Raetihi Hospital in a critical condition. The rest of the party in a nearby tent were thrown out of bed, but apart from the shock wore uninjured. The explosion was distinctly heard in Ractihi, nine miles distant.
