A COSTLY BLUNDER
HUGE ORDER FOR WOOLPACKS.
(By Telegraph.) (Special to the "Evening Post.")
AUCKLAND, 3rd July.
Information has come to Auckland from a southern source that a loading New Zealand firm has mado a costly blunder, and has brought fifty years' supply of woolpacks by error, only sufficient for twelve months being intended. The mistake occurred through the mistaken use of a word in eabliwr to Calcutta for 5000 balos instead of 5000 packs. Each bale contains fifty woolpacks. An unsuccessful effort was made to cancel the purchase. Difficulty experienced by Auckland merchants in obtaining freight space from the East may be due in some measure to the shipment of these woolpacks, besides which tho market may be affected.
(Inquiries made in Wellington throw no. lijht on the above statement.]
