FIRES

. A_ six-roomed wood and iron dwelling 111 Karaka Bay road was destroyed by fire early yesterday morning. It was occupied by Mr. H. B. Hanson, and owned by Mr. W. J. Bason. When the brigade arrived the fire had a strong hold, .and they could not prevent the total demolition of the building. Another call was received at 7.32 a.m. to an eight-roomed two-story dwelling at 17, Buckingham street, Maranui, owned by Mr. E. Reynolds, and occupied by Mr. R. A. Berry. Only slight damage was done, the fire being suppressed without difficulty.
