PALMERSTON N., This Day.

Robert Simpson, a young man, chargod with unlawful conversion of a motor-car to his own use, was finod £10. Tho Magistrate, Mr. J. L. Stout, said the accused was lucky in not being sent to gaol. Evidence was tendered that the accused took a car belonging to a commercial firm, and used by his uncle, out of tho latter's garage without permission. He wont to Wanganui, and brought the car back two days later.
