BOWLING CLUBS

ANNUAL REPORTS,

A healthy state of affairs is shown in the annual report of the Island Bay Bowling Club which has just over 100 members. Better playing conditions, including an additional green, have been provided, and the prospects for the coming season are excellent. The winners of the various competitions during the season were:—Champion singles (Willoughby Cup), Mr. H. C. Osborne; junior singles, Mr. G. Innis; club rinks, Messrs. A. V. Dallow, G. Innis, F. J. Jones, J. Jenkins (s); club pairs (Restieaux Cup), Messrs. V. Eeece and E. A. Horron (s); champion rinks (Mr. G. Springhalt's trophies), Messrs. W. Kcrr, E. A. Herron, D. H. Taylor, J. M. Hale (s); champion pairs, Messrs. J. A. Conder and A. B. Duff (s). The Wanganui Christmas tournament was won by the following rink: Messrs. W. Kerr, E. A. Herron, J. A. Conder, A. B. Duff (s). The Wellington Centre's trophy, the Edwin Feathers, was won by the club early in the season, lost, and won again at the close of the season.

The fourteenth annual report and bal-ance-sheet of the Seatoun Bowling and Tennis Club will be presented at a meeting to be held on i!Bth June. The figures show 96 honorary and active bowlers, 62 tennis players of both sexes, and juveniles, and 19 croquet playors. Tho finances of the club are in a healthy condition. In the club competitions the following were successful: Champion singles: J. Gilbert; champion pairs, C. vßell and S. Stone (s); champion rinks, C. Bell, B. F. Gardiner, P. R. Jackson, J. Gilbert (s); junior singles (North, Cup), J. Lynam. The club during the year suffered a severe loss in the death of Mr. Nat "Willoughby, a keen and. enthusiastic member who rendered valuable service as green superintendent for three years as well as being a director and trustee. Two other members of the club passed away during the year, Messrs. 1\ Townsend and H. J. R. Heath.
