MURDER IN PARIS
EX-AMBASSADOR'S WIFE
FOUND SHOT THROUGH HEAD
VICTIM OF STRUGGLE WITH
BURGLARS.
(United Press Association—Copyright.) (Reuter'a Telegram.) (Received 4th May, 9 a.m.)
PARIS, 3rd May.
Madame Ragnault, wife of a former French Ambassador to Japan, was discovered dead in her flat. The cook on entering her mistress's bedroom found a chaos of furniture, broken. Madame's body lay in the corridor shot through the head. Evidence at the inquest indicated that she had surprised burglars, who thought she was away from home, armed with a revolver, which apparently went off and killed her while the criminals were attempting to wrest it away. The burglars secured a number of jewels. Madame Ragnault distinguished herself by her courage during the disorders at Fez, where her husband, who was absent from home, was French Minister before the French troops landed.
