CONVICTION FOR FRAUD

AUCKLAND, This Day
A charge of incurring a debt of £3 10s by fraud in Dunedin last September was made against William Edward Walker in the Police Court. Chief-Detective Cummings said the accused obtained board on the representation that he had been employed by the Christchurch Tramway Company ami had been transferred to Dunedin. This statement was false, fie was now serving a long sentence for another offence. The "Magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, said that in the circumstances the accused would be convicted and discharged.
