DAIRY PRODUCE
AUCKLAND'S HEAVY OUTPUT.
(By Telegraph.)
(Special to "The Evening Post")
AUCKLAND, This Day.
There has been a falling off in the quantity of butter produced in the Auckland province during the present season as compared with the record output of last year, but it already exceeds the quantity made during the full season of 1922-23. On the other hand, the cheese output is greatly in excess of that of last season, so that on average prices the value of the total output of butter and cheese for the season to date is approximately £200,000 greater than for the corresponding period of last year. The production of butter in July,. when the season opened, was much lower than usual, owing to the unseasonable weather, and in each succeeding month the figures have failed to reach the totals for the corresponding months of last season, with the exception of December, when the output was almost 4000 boxes greater than in December, 1924. The production for the season to date totals 1,490,714 boxes as against 1,589,432 boxes for the same period of last season, a decrease of 98,718 boxes. .As there are still two months of the season remaining, this leeway may yet be substantially reduced. , The increase in cheese production for the season amounts to 29,388 crates, as compared with last season.
