Old Boys, a bye. ; The Porirua-Johnsonyille match -was played at Porirua, and it provided plenty of excitement for the spectators. Just atter the start of the game Southgate scored a try (unconverted) for Porirua, but tor the remainder of the spell there was no further scoring, even play being the order. Early in the second spell the home team increas, yd their tally, J. Rene scoring and Mickle converting. Strenuous efforts by.Johnsonville resulted in two unconverted tries, by W. Holmes and R. Mason. Further trouble was evaded by Porirua, who won by 8 points to 6. Mr. D. Calcinai-was the reEastbourne and University provided a fast, even game on the former's ground. An interesting first spell in which there were quite a number of bright rushes, gave 'Varsity a lead by three points, but the home team forged ahead in the second spell when both sides clipped on the pace. Tries for the winners were scored by Brunton (2) anil Hodge, two being converted by Foley and one by Clark. Foley also kicked a penalty. 'Varsity's 14 points were all scored by Kalaugher—a converted try and three penalty goals. Mr. R. E. J. Martin was the referee. Training College beat Athletic by 31 points to 4. For the winners tries were scored by Tier (2), Fuller (2), Hardie, Robbie, and M'Sweeney. Tier converted three tries, and Bariing potted a goal.
