ORIENTAL BEAT WELLINGTON.
In a rather scrappy game, with occasional brilliant flashes, Oriental beat Wellington at Kilbirnie by 25 points to 6. Getting most of the ball in the scrums, the Oriental backs handled tho ball freely, but did most of their scoring in the second spell, when the vigour of the Wellington tackling seemed to fade. Wepoihana had to retire through injuries. In the second spell Oriental had advantage of the sun, and the backs worked better. Evans scored a brilliant try from an intercepted pass, receiving from half-way. Hill's kick failed. Chambers tcored next, the kick again failing. 14-0. Morgan kicked a penalty* goal for Wellington, and Dunn scored a try, unconverted. 14-0.
