TRENTHAM NOTES
It was dull but fine at Trentham thia morning, but there was little work of any kind, and although a number of visiting horses have arrived they were not asked for anything strenuous. The tracks are hard.
Modern and Misgovern were given a good working gallop over six furlongs on the tan in lmin 19sec.
Nadarino after beginning very slowly was given a good three-quai'ter pace gallop over six furlongs. Salamis and Matu were companions in a working gallop over six furlongs. J. H. Jefferd Lad his trio, Rapine, Star* Stranger; arid Mimetic, on the course, but they were only trotted and cantered, and will be galloped fast to-morrow. All three look very well. Rapine in particular was very anxious to go faster when doing good pace work on the taw. * • S. Waddell had Gold Light, Shirley, Father O'Flynn, and Rascal on the course. Gold Light looks none the worse for her two races at Riccarton, and the remaining three appear to be in good buckle.
Otter trainers to put in an appearance are T. Lloyd with Piuthair, H. L. Russell with Siaoei, Mount Marta, and Berinthia, and J. Jones with Commendation and Many Colours. Licinius has also arrived from the South, but went on to Tauherenikau. Grand Knight was • out wzth the remainder of S. Reid's team. He seemed just slightly sore when he first went out to trot round the centre, but it soon wore off. .
