PERSONAL MATTERS
The Hon. Sir James Parr, Minister of Education and Postmaster-General, returned to "Wellington this afternoon. The Hon. W. Nosworthy, Minister of Finance, leaves to-morrow night for Auckland, and will return on Tuesday or Wednesday.
The Hon. 0. J. Hawken, Minister of Agriculture and Commissioner of State Forests, left for Auckland and the Waikato. district this afternoon. He will inspect certain activities in connection with the afforestation projects of the
:.tate Forest Service. Mr./Hawken expects to return about the end of nextt week.
Dr. and Mrs. Gilmer and family, of Upper Willis street, will leave ■ on a trip to Europe and the Continent by the Eotorua on 24th April. Mr. H. G. Smith, formerly general manager of the Phoenix Fire Assurance Company, and an ex-president of the Wellington Bowling Club, left to take up residence in England by the Ulimaroa.
Bishop Liston, accompanied by ,the Very Rev. Monsignor., Orniond, of St. Benedict's, and the Key. Father Delany, of Dunedin, will leave Auckland by the Aorangi on 13th April in order to attend the 28th International Eucharistic Congress at Chicago. They expect to be absent from New Zealand for about three months.
Sir James Parr had a busy day at New Plymouth yesterday. In the morning he received deputations on the educational needs of the province, and in the afternoon he unveiled the memorial gates of the Fitzroy School, and later was entertained at toa. Later, the Minister proceeded to Hawora. He re-, turns to Wellington to-day, and goe3 to the South Island on.Tuesday night. Mr. F. W. Furkert, Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department, withhis wife and niece, will leave for Auckland to-morrow evening to connect with the Aorangi. They will leave the Aorangi at Suva, and proceed via Pago Pago and Honolulu to San Francisco, where they will travel by rail to Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver. They will tour Western Canada, and will sail from Montreal for Liverpool. After touring the United Kingdom Mr. Furkert will visit Ireland and the Continent, returning home via Suez.
