New Zealand's purchase of the British Medical Council's building has revived the controversy' concerning the propriety of Epstein's eighteen statuettes, which stud the facade of the first floor. Years-..ago there was a strong objection to them orf Jhe ground that they should not be exposed to the public gaze, beirig more fit for a scientific gallery. Questions were, even asked in Parliament. It is, understood that the New Zealand authorities do not intend io interfere with the figures, which are now heavily coated with grime.
