MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Mr. W. G. Bedell, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court to-day. Charged with stealing a fur coat valued at £40, the property of Daisy Coleman, Bridget Ohlson (28), an hotel manageress, was remanded to appear on Tuesday next.

A student, named Teneti Uru (18) pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing shaving requisites, valued at £ 1 15s, from J. Allcott. He also admitted stealing shaving requisites, valued at £1 3s, from Captain Duggan, and jewellery, valued at £9 ss, from George Howe. On each of the first two charges he was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon within twelve months, and on the other charge he was fined £2, in default 14 days' imprisonment with hard labour. He was allowed a week in which to pay the fine. ,

Allan Gordon Hunter, a "driver, aged 18, was ordered to be detained in a Borstal institution for twelve months, on a charge, to which he pleaded guilty, of stealing a quantity of motor accessories, valued at S3 Bs, the property of the Colonial Motor Company. He was remanded to appear at Invercargill on 14th April on a charge of having received tools to the value of £10, knowing them to have been dishonestly obtained.
